Putting on the exterior walls
One step I didn't document on Phase 6 was the installation of the J-trim around the windows and doors. This is another critical step as it will ensure you don't have leaks. One of my windows must have had a mistake of something was off as it started leaking but we didn't realize it until just before drywall was to be installed.
It was finally time to start Phase 7 and make the house dry with exterior walls going up. This required a lot of careful measurements to ensure the cuts were made correctly as there is not much in the way of spare wall material. I did make one HUGE error and lucky for me there was one extra side wall panel!! Like the installation of the roof panels, the instructions were very clear and easy to understand.
This stage of the build is also when I got the septic tank was installed on the property. They also used the excavator to feather the yard going to the back of the house. This will continue to be a problem for us until we finally get a retaining wall - Which was finally done in late December 2021.
Things are finally coming together!
