Almost done!

We finally finished getting the ceiling in. This was knotty pine tongue in groove from Home Depot. This was probably the cheapest way to go with the price of wood. When I originally was looking for ceiling wood 6 inch ship lap was going to be $2500, two months later it was up to $2900, when I was ready to drive and pick it up it was up to over $3500. This ceiling material was not real easy to put up and is very thin. It did turn out nice with three rooms in natural, one in deep and light stain too look like it was salvaged wood and the rest of the house in Golden Oak but even those had some boards that were darker and lighter than others.

We started to put the cabinets up in the kitchen. This is one area that I think the metal studs and 2 foot centers are a bad idea. It very hard to attach them to the walls where they would hold enough weight. Some cabinets would only hit one stud for support. We put the upper cabinets onto the ceiling so we could tie into the ceiling joists. This created more space between the cabinets and the counter top, but they are high enough that my wife needs to use a stool for anything above the first shelf.  The custom counter tops were finally ready for pickup, they are butcher block looking formica. In the photos, the corner units were not glued together yet, just sitting on the cabinets to check the fit.

The flooring is just about done, with only the kitchen, living room and hallway to do.

The kitchen cabinets installed, still need the door knobs and handles.

Dining room floor is done.
The man cave/gun room, funny how this was the first room completed with all furniture.

Still a lot to be done in the main room.
Baseboards all painted - as usual I bought way to many.
